History
On March 5th 2005 The Westberry-Engram Community Center, Inc.
a 501 © 3 Corporation was formed to be the nonprofit arm of Alpha Beta Sigma Chapter, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. On December 21, 2009 an amendment to the Constitution was filed changing the name to The Westberry-Engram Sigma Educational Foundation, Inc. to more accurately identify with the Foundation's Mission Statement "To provide cultural, educational scholarships, social and charitable services to adults and youths in the State of Texas. This will enhance the personal and family development for an improved quality of life. The goal is to assist adults and youths in being productive members of society". We are indeed forever grateful to have this Foundation carry the name of two great leaders and educators, the Hon. John E. Westberry 21st, International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and the Hon. Lewis Engram, Distinguished Service Chapter Member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

The Purpose and Power of the Articles of Incorporation
This corporation is organized, and it shall be operated for acquiring holding, administering, managing and maintain property, real personal and mixed so that the same may be devoted to house and accommodate cultural, social literary leadership, charitable activities, and educational development and scholarships, for the benefit of elementary and secondary youth in the Greater Houston area and the State of Texas. No part of the net earning of the corporation shall insure to the benefit of any private member. |
